BASSIST & PRODUCER

Sam Lewis

Born in Georgia and raised in the rich musical tradition of the church, Sam grew up surrounded by voices, harmonies, and rhythms that shaped his earliest understanding of what music could do. Singing in the choir as a child, he learned that music wasn’t just performance — it was fellowship, storytelling, and a way to lift people up. That early foundation gave him a lifelong passion for sound, soul, and the deep emotional current that runs through great R&B.

As the bassist for Honey and Heat, Sam brings that same spirit to the stage and the studio. His playing is rooted in the expressive virtuosity of Stanley Clarke and the groundbreaking funk of Larry Graham, blending melodic sensitivity with a groove driven backbone. Sam’s lines move with intention — sometimes subtle and supportive, sometimes bold and commanding — always crafted to elevate the song and deepen the band’s signature R&B feel.

In Focus

For Sam, music has always been more than a passion; it’s a calling that began in a Georgia church and continues to grow with every performance. With him holding down the low end, Honey and Heat doesn’t just play — it resonates.
